Ryan is a right winger who was snapped up from Stockport County in the summer of 2007. He had made two senior appearances at Stockport, and even wore the captain's armband in one of those games, making him the youngest captain in their history.
Ryan found it difficult to establish himself in Gary Ablett's side in 2007-08, with the likes of Nabil El Zhar, Sebatian Leto and Ray Putterill ahead of him in the pecking order. He looked useful on the rare opportunities he got, but he missed out on the climax to the season when he picked a bad ankle injury injury in a game against Manchester City at the Racecourse Ground.
