Php & Mysql

I've just downloaded the latest versions of both, but before I install them onto the server I need to know if there's any reason I shouldn't do it, or anything I need to look out for.

I assume I need to back everything up just in case, but once that's done is it straightforward to just upgrade to the newer versions?

Re: Php & Mysql

You need to back up all of the "ini" files from your existing PHP folder, and also backup your databases before you upgrade MySQL.

Re: Php & Mysql

Haven't attempted this yet, I was just backing up the database before.

Re: Php & Mysql

What OS is the server running? CentOS still? If so what version and what versions of MySQL and php are you upgrading from and to? If you do an php upgrade from 4.x to 5.x, make sure it all works correctly before upgrading because a lot of changes happened between those versions.

Re: Php & Mysql

You can do these kinds of things within the WHM panels.

Like here: https://DOMAINNAMEORIPADDRESS:2087/c...el_sync_screen for PHP and other stuff.

And here: https://DOMAINNAMEORIPADDRESS:2087/s.../tweaksettings where you can choose a new version of mysql (a note tells you about the other couple of things you then need to do).
