Making a Podcast
Two questions -
1. Would it be difficult for someone with reasonably little technological knowledge? The guides to creating them on various websites say that it's a simple process but I'm not inclined to believe them.
2. Do you need a website to post them on? If so, seeing as I don't have a website, would myspace work?
Thanks in advance techy nerds.

I don't know the answer to either of those questions, but I am considering doing a TLW one at some point. Just thought I'd share that.

Re: Making a Podcast
just create an mp3 of whatever it is you want. Then make an RSS file.
All that is is a text doc with a few lines of XML in it which tells the player what to do with it. upload and job's done. make the mp3 file and then repost in here and I'll show you how to do the RSS. You can do it on myspace but I think you have to sign up and only are allowed to upload so many. Might be 5 or so.

Thanks Mr. Leeson (quality new name btw). I reckon it'll take a bit of fucking about, seeing as I want to to put recorded phone calls and stuff into it I think, but I'll put the MP3 on this thread when it's done; whenever that is.

Re: Making a Podcast
Have you already all the materials? The calls and whatever else you want in it? It shouldn't take long to splice it all together once you have. Half an hour tops?

Nope, it's just scribbled out on a notepad like all my other half-arsed ideas. I haven't really had a look at the technical side yet, I think I'll have a proper go tomorrow.
I did buy a microphone but it didn't work - are there PC microphones anyone can recommend actually? I only need it to record my voice, as well as phone calls (unless I can record the calls directly onto the PC somehow; via the modem or something)?

Re: Making a Podcast
I have a podcast of the songs I've been recording each week. It is on my website but the podcast place automatically puts it on itunes too so people can subscribe to it there and it automatically updates. You just create the podcast upload the mp3 to wherever you are storing it, then copy the mp3 url into the podcast player. I use Big Contact : Professional Audio & Video Distribution Tools
