Bastards at SKY - Advice needed
After having some trouble with virginmedia, a SKY salemsman knocked on my door last month and offered me a package for the TV, phone and broadband. This package was a bit more expensive than virgin, but included one premium channel (I got family movies for the kids, with the intention of swapping it to sport for the boys in August).
Because I didn't have a BT phone line, I was told by the toady salesman to sort out getting one installed, and when it had been done to get back in touch with them and they'd set up my phone and broadband, free of charge. In the meantime, I had the TV sorted out and have had it for the last fortnight. I was surprised to see that you don't even get freeview channels unless you pay for them (I've got kids, music, 2 shit movie channels, BBC 1 - Channel 5 and nothing else).
Anyway, I had the BT line fitted last week, at a cost of 125 bastard quid, and paid £57 to SKY for set-up and stuff. I also stayed with virginmedia so I could still have my Phone and BB in the meantime.
I phoned SKY last night to tell them that the phoneline was working and to arrange having the broadband set up. It was only at this point they told me that my area isn't set up for SKY broadband, so I'd have to pay an additional £17 a month for 2mb broadband (from them via a 3rd party provider I presume?). I'm fucking fuming. I've signed a 12 month contract, and the toady salesman must have known BB wasn't available in our street. I'm now stuck with a contract paying 25 quid a month more than I was paying VirginMedia for a similar package, plus I've already forked out close to £200 for bugger all.
What would you do? Pay the extra and quit moaning; or demand a refund for all the money I've paid so far and stick with Virgin, whilst demanding disciplinary action for the toady salesman? Would you inform trading standards?

Re: Bastards at SKY - Advice needed
Is there not usually a 14 day 'cool off' period on this type of deal?

Re: Bastards at SKY - Advice needed
If they quoted you a specification for the broadband and a price for the package, then surely they are in breach of the contract that you've signed with them?

1.use saynoto0870.com to find a proper phone number for their head office-demand to speak to their MD or head of customer relations.
2.Complain to OfCom.
If you keep badgering the head office reception sooner or later someone is going to deal with you, especially if OfCom are also on their case.
Log every contact, and everything they tell you, and let them know you're doing it and its all going to OfCom.

They are in breach of contract. They should either fulfil their promise or you are free to not pay a penny. If you have a d.debit stop it with your bank straight away too.

I thought he was tea in a sushi restaurant? Anyway, if I knew his whereabouts I would jizz in his face. His name is Gavin White (it's on the contract) so if any of you chance upon him, feel free to exact your revenge on my behalf.
(He was Welsh, exceptionally short, podgy and ginger if it helps.)

I don't know much, but when it comes to killing and shit like that, I'm your man.
Google it Lance, it was an interesting case and there is a push for it to be reopened. He was done on Tower Bridge in the late 70s with the old poison umbrella trick. He was a Bulgarian dissident who came to London to escape the regime and to carry on broadcasting and publishing his anti-communist work.
It has the KGB written all over it....despite denials for 30 years.

If you can find out where he lives, or the general area, I'll hack him to death on your behalf.

It's 'Bagsy'. If you're going to hijack my thread, at least use correct spelling. It's nothing to do with puffy eyes.
