Binning windows 2000 and installing Ubuntu

I have an installation thing for Ububuntu and an old laptop I was given by work to mess with. I want to install Ubuntu. How do I go about wiping it and then installing it?

Have you tried just booting from the ubuntu setup disc? It should give you options to format before installation.

Its given as an option on the set up disk. You can choose either to dual boot or clean install.

Dual boot will keep the windows 2000 on it,and install ubuntu as well.

Clean install should format your hard drive clean and then install Ubuntu by itself.

Hope this helps
