Mega Drive or SNES?

You were either one or the other back in the day, which did you have?

Snes for me, it may not have been as 'down with the kids' but the games were by far the best.

Zelda - Link to the past is still one of my all time top five, Mario World, Mario Cart, the ISS games and Street Fighter II's debut on a conole were obvious highlights.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

As much as I love Streets of Rage 2, Nintendo stomps all over the megadrive for me

Contra 3, Zelda III, Super Mario World, TMNT 2, Actraiser, TMNT 4, Super Metroid, Super Streetfighter 2, F-Zero, Legend of the Mystical Ninja and of course Mario Kart

All gaming gold.

Though the scapping between Sega and Nintendo was an ace time

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

Wheres the option for both as i had the pair of them.

Loved Kid Chameleon and Wonderboy on Megadrive and Super Mario World and Super Tennis were superb on SNES.

Got complete collections of both consoles now on emulators and some of the games are still boss.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

Road Rash, Sonic, Streets of Rage, John Madden, NHL Hockey, all boss on The Mega Drive, if you liked geekboy fantasy games then I suppose the SNES was better. Fucking nerds. *Shakes head*

You could own both but you could only love one, if I'd admitted to owning both in school i'd have been a man without a country.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

I owned Mega Drive, but I actually preferred playing the SNES. It was on this I got the first ever Fifa and at the time it was the best footy game ever. Also Mortal Kombat beat the shit out of Street Fighter.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

I had a megadrive and swopped it for my SNES.

they were both good and I loved NHL hockey on the megadrive as well as Aryton Senna F1 World Championship.

However, Zelda, Mariokart, PGA Tour and Star Wars on the SNES ensured that I loved my SNES more.

I'm desperate for a Wii version of NHL though, gimme gimme gimme, now.

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

Where's a good place to get an emulator for these 2 classic consoles? NHL on the Mega Drive was immense... but I still regret not having a SNES. Many missed Mario Kart hours and that light gun was the nuts!

I had both.

Killer Instinct was the tits. I used to love destroying my mates with 45 hit ultra combos!

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

The Snes had the shittest add-on ever invented by the video game industry, it was a light gun 'bazooka' with an auto-fire button, and a setting which meant it could hit everything on the screen simultaneously.

So in theory you could point it at the screen, switch it to auto-fire and let it flatten everything on the TV all at once while you sat back and ate wotsits, what fun.

It was unbelievably poor - especially as the NES had utilised the Zapper to such cool effect.

I was crushed

Re: Mega Drive or SNES?

I had both but preferred the Megadrive. Like shagging I prefer my computer games to be non-stop, furious action fests. I'm thinking Afterburner in the arcades x1000.
