Taster Management Advisor - Beer Tasting Professionals, OXFORD-Based [This job has been advertised by a member of REC] Permanent

Much like football, beer is a funny old game. But unlike football, there s a science behind it. Our client is one of the leaders in Professional Beer Tasting. They ve even won Queen's awards for their work, and are currently looking to recruit three new members for their growing team.

The role would involve drinking beer regularly. It would involve drinking beer with your clients regularly. If this is a problem for anyone, then please do not apply. T-Totallers are unlikely to enjoy this role, but moderate drinkers will. This is a professional environment. On top of beer tasting, you would be teaching your clients how to use the software they buy from your employer. It trains and monitors the performance of professional beer tasters. These people do exist! You could be one of them.

The software developed by our client helps breweries to understand how to taste beer. Flavour intensity, beer authenticity, consistent concentration, etc. You will be a quick learner and need to learn the systems you'll be discussing with your audience over a nice drink of course. You will be a very professional, outgoing, engaging individual. Keen to discuss the finer points of the system, and how that will enhance your clients buying capacity and taste methods. If it's wet and in a glass, doesn't really come into it at this level.

Obviously, a lot of people drink beer regular, but that doesn't mean anyone and everyone is suitable for this position.

Our client has strict criteria with the premise of recruiting three people with various language/educational skills:

* One person who speaks English as a first language, very articulate and writes well.
* One person who can speak a range of European languages (a few selected from German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian, etc) ideally together with Russian.
* One Chinese speaker to help develop the Asian market.

As well as a good grasp of language, the candidates must be educated to at least Degree level ideally in Chemistry, Food Science, etc. A good grasp of maths is essential. Any Statisticians, Mathematicians or Economics graduates would be welcome also. No prior experience in this area is needed, however, at least two years experience in a Sales/Consultant role would be helpful.

There are excellent benefits (apart from the refreshments), with a good career path. You must live within daily or commutable travel to Thame, Oxfordshire. There is also c12 weeks travel across the year visiting Breweries your clients offices.

Please send CV's through to us with a covering letter explaining why you would be suitable for the role, and any prior experience that you feel is relevant. Please note this job is for professional career minded individuals.

Re: Crap job

I was talking to my mates about beer tasting last weekend and we concluded that we are all pretty shit at it and can't really tell a lot of the main brands from each other. One lad did claim that Fosters tastes of cream soda though, so he can pick that put easily.

Re: Crap job

I think my limit on beer tasting is knowing I've got the "wrong" one. Generally you notice this happen when certain members of the round come back, and everyone's Stella tastes suspiciously like the Smart-Price Lager the place sells.

That Cream Soda guy probably has a strange illness.
