Wi-fi problem
I'm back in Wales and I'm using someone elses wi-fi connection. It was fine last night but today my laptop can find the signal, has a decent strength but won't connect to the internet. It's saying there's a local connection only. Any reason why this has happened?

Using Vista?

Try disabling IPv6

Start>Network>Network and Sharing Center>Manage Network Connections. Open the properties of the connection. Untick TCP/IPv6.


Vista is weird.

Anyone else connected to that router RK? Do you know if they have web access? Are you able to restart it?

If its just you, you can try:

Start/Run then type in:

ipconfig /renew

This gets done everytime you start a connection, but no harm in trying.

When that happens to me I usually have to (sorry) reboot the router.

If you can get into the router's control panel you can see if it's connected to the net. This happens every so often with this peecashitt BT kit I've got.

Is it actually downloading though? Or does the systray thing say 0%?

If it is downloading, has your browser decided to spazz itself and set it to 'Work Offline'? In I.E, its a tick on the File menu, just untick it.

No, it is downloading by the looks of it, it's on 90% as we speak. I checked the internet browser and it's not set to work offline. This is fuckin' witchcraft.

Should try pinging the bbc site until you close the command prompt.

Make sure you're wireless connection is running ok first though.
