Re: Hostels in Madrid/Barca.

Get your hands on a copy of the Rough Guide to Europe. They have good places to stay in there and cheap too.

I found a good place in Barca, Hotel Oliveira I think it was or something similar, near La Ramblas but that was a few years ago. But we also used it in Switzerland, Austria and Italy and every place we stayed was really good.

It also gives a few ideas for places to eat at various price ranges.

Re: Hostels in Madrid/Barca.

Good hotel in Madrid is the Europa - right in the middle of everything, off the Puerta del Sol - which is the main square.

Wife stayed there in January. About 60 Euros a night for a double room. Boss location.

Edit: Just re-read the title of the thread as Hostels - not hotels. Shit. Sorry mate.

Not when I was there. It was more like 5 Euro.

Beautiful, with a pulsing night life. The food is exquisite, and the women...

Re: Hostels in Madrid/Barca.

When I did all my Inter rail hostel bookings it was all through Reviews of Hostels Worldwide - Hostelz.com (this was very tough for me as I hate 'street' style deliberate incorrect spelling). You just type in the name of the city and it will list a number of hostels, most of which you can reserve online. They also have reviews and funnily enough I used it to book the aforementioned HelloBCN hostel for a couple nights in July.
