Re: John Candy...
Indeed.
Did you know the role Rick Moranis played in Ghostbusters one was written for Candy but he couldnt do it.
Also, he's ace in JFK.
Just a boss actor and seemingly a nice fella along with it.

Re: John Candy...
Great actor, hilarious guy. It breaks my heart that people like this went too soon yet the likes of Jade Goodey, Jordan and Peter Andre are still getting airtime on TV.

Re: John Candy...
I don't think I want to know a six-year-old who isn't a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don't want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don't have a college degree. I don't even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they're ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they're no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I'm coming looking for you!
Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face!

Re: John Candy...
Mariella Frostrup read my name out on TV once thanks to Mr Candy. I won a competition in about 1993 and won all his movies on video for answering a question right.
Absolute legend. Far too young.

Re: John Candy...
He was brilliant in Planes, trains and automobiles. The perfect foil for Steve Martin.

I'm man enough to admit the final couple of minutes of that movie almost reduce me to tears every time.

Re: John Candy...
Didnt realise he was only 43 when he died. He was one of those comedy actors that made you laugh before he did something funny.

Re: John Candy...
His surname is ironic for someone who died of symptons of obesity. Therefore the secret to long life is have a 'healthy' name. I'm going to change mine to Rupert Cabbage.

Re: John Candy...
I always though he was OK, but not great. Cool Runnings was OK. Uncle Buck was OK. Planes Trains and Automobiles was, erm, OK.
He was fucking fat though, I'll give you that.

Re: John Candy...
One of the greatest Canadians who ever lived.
Pisses all over Jim Carey, Ackroyd and Moranis.
Planes, Trains... can watch it over and over.
For all the Canadians he cut his teeth at SCTV and that program was pure gold. Bob and Doug got alot of the accolades and gave it the name but Candy was brilliant in that show.
Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Catherin O'Hara, John Candy and Dave Thomas all went on to big screen but Candy is the pick of the litter.
