Broken finger
Or at least I'm fairly sure it is, because it's black and swollen with a constant dull throbbing pain, and shooting pains up the arm when I catch it on something.
Could just be a sprain though.
Aaaaaanyway, I can manipulate it the full range with the other hand so do I have to queue in casualty or can I just keep it taped up to another finger like they probably would anyway?
Sure there must be some medical types on here who can advise me.
Also, how long before I can play in goal again now I've invested in some proper gloves?

Re: Broken finger
That sounds like it is broken. They will just strap it up with a splint at Casualty but you need to be careful that the bone is still aligned so it heels properly.

Therein lies the question, my right wrist is still a bit fucked because I never bothered to get it fixed properly.
The finger does move correctly when I manipulate it though, and I can't feel any funny lumps.
I suppose the unpalatable answer might be that I will have to waste more hours of my life in a hospital.

Re: Broken finger
If it looks like this:
it should be disguised:
or chopped off and replaced with gay, bionic finger nunchucks:
I hope this was useful.

Re: Broken finger
if it's too swollen you will have wasted 4 hours in casualty, they will strap it up with a splint and a sling so the blood drains away and leave it for a couple of weeks. i lasted 4 days before i cut it off, no problems since just use frozen peas to reduce swelling if you don't go

Bloody hell mate, that sounds a bit drastic! Take it you mean you cut the splint off, not the finger!
Think I'm going to give casualty a miss. Already on the frozen peas and I think it'll be alright.
Anyone have any idea how long before I can play again though? Got a game I don't want to miss in two weeks, I'm thinking if I strap it up heavily and wear these new gloves I'll probably risk it.

Re: Broken finger
It will be sound, after my well documented cast hacking exploits I can confirm that no medical attention will be needed, you can probably get a suitable bandage/grip from Boots.

Just got some sticky strapping from the chemists, will wrap a bit of gauze round it for padding and tape it to the next finger.
Cheers for the advice fellas.

Re: Broken finger
Go to casualty. It'll probably be ok but what's a few hours in casualty compared to a lifetime of having a spazzy hand, doofus

Re: Broken finger
I think IO've broken all my fingers at one point or another.
There's fuck all you can do with it really. If the mobility is normal (in terms of direction), but restricted y swelling, then DO NOT strap it up, as it can heal incorrectly and it will give you arthritus when you're older. Just man up, take some pain killers, and in 2-3 weeks you'll be right as rain.
