Howard Jones appreciation thread

I rarely get sentimental about shit, as basically I'm a cold and callous bastard, but I've been having a nostalgia music day the day after SKEET's smackhead thread and I remembered as a nipper I really liked Howard Jones.
So...off to the tube I went and had a look and listen to gems like What is love?, Hide and Seek and Pearl in the shell and I have to say I still like them and could remember every word.
So, this is the Howie/80's pop/childhood music nostalgia thread.
A couple of Howie tunes now reside on my ipod and damn pleased I am aboot it.

I think the version of Always Asking Questions on the 12 inch album was just about my fave Howie song.

Did he sing "Near a tree by a river there's a hole in the ground where an old der der der der der round and around"? If he did, I liked him too.

I have a 3 hour TV programme called 80s revisited which music throughout the 80s. It was shown on New years eve 1989 apparently.

It is seriously great in a shite way

It was indeed...near a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground, where the old man of Aran goes around and around...etc
I quite liked Human Racing the song, rather than the album of the same name by short Nik.

Re: Howard Jones appreciation thread

I remember pulling on of the best looking birds ever thanks to Howard Jones.

I was in La in 1983 and went to the greek theatre to see Howard Jones and Joe Jackson. After the concert I went to this fab restaurant, and the waitress asked where i had been, she was not into Joe Jackson but loved Howard Jones. She invited me back to her place once her shift finished.

Fantastic memories.
