Free spyware protection
Can anyone recommend me some decent spyware protection and anything else you think I should have.
All I have is that Norton anti virus thing and a mate said that it's a bit shit.

Re: Free spyware protection
You'd be better off getting rid of Norton tbh...
If you have a legit copy of Windows it might be worth downloading Windows Defender. AVG do a free anti-spyware program, although I don't know how good that is.

Re: Free spyware protection
The AVG one says "buy now", which goes against my initial plan of getting something foe free.
The Spybot one has about 20 ones to pick from, which one do I download???
PS. Tell me like I'm four years old. That's my computer age.

Re: Free spyware protection
AVG - Click on the installation files link (You choose the free version during the install) and for Spybot choose the download link here.
Oh and deffo fuck Norton off, it's worse than actually having a virus.

Re: Free spyware protection
I've downloaded the AVG anti-spyware already, any advice on a decent anti-virus?
Oh and my brother, who is quite the nerd alert, recommends zone alarm, which I would have anyway but there was trouble with installation

I never tried it. I have a commercial anti spyware package, called CounterSpy. It's the best avaliable. Not free in the strictest sense, but it can be acquired on the internet without parting with any cash. Not that I'm endorsing piracy or anything.

AVG again, if you want a freebie. It updates nigh on every day too, which must be good.
