Attacks on fire crews
FIREFIGHTERS were petrol bombed by a gang of Liverpool yobs while on a 999 call.
The crew from Belle Vale station were called to a rubbish fire in Caldway Drive in the early hours of yesterday morning.
When they got there a gang started pelting the vehicle with missiles, including a petrol bomb.
The attack happened on a main road at 1.32am.
The yobs also tried to torch a nearby housing office.
Fire officials have issued an urgent warning to all firefighters across Merseyside advising them to be on their guard when attending calls.
Union bosses say crew members could have been badly injured or even killed in the attack.
One firefighter said: “All the fire stations got an urgent telex to say we must be on our guard after a fire engine was petrol bombed by a gang of yobs.
“We have been told to make sure we have our full fire kit on when we go out on jobs.
“We just don’t need this, especially with bonfire night coming up. The public need to know the kind of thing that we have to put up with when we are just trying to do our job.”
The petrol bomb attack came 36 hours after vandals smashed the windscreen of another fire engine lured to a bin fire in Lingham Park, Moreton, Wirral.
A gang of about 20 teenagers hurled stones at the engine while the crew were trapped inside.
A Merseyside fire and rescue service spokesman said: “There is a small minority who continue to put the lives of crews and the public at risk by attacking them while they are carrying out their work.
“This will not be tolerated and there will be joint operations with the police to address it.”
Fire Brigade Union spokesman Mark Dunne said the Belle Vale attack may have been premeditated.
He said: “This was a violent incident and one of the worst in a long while.
“It could have injured or killed one of the crew who responded. Our members expect to be protected and looked after by the public.
“We don't expect to be shot at, bricked and petrol bombed.
“The job we do involves enough chances to be injured without worrying about violent attacks.”

Been a few of these over recent years, but I think what knocks me sick more than just the attacks is the fact they are often lured to specific spots with hoax calls before being ambushed.
It just fucking blows my mind.
There was a story a few weeks back about an 80yo man dying becaue the ambulance he was travelling in was blocked in by a bunch of kids on bikes.
I wonder what would happen if one of these fire officers lashed out at one of the little animals? Lose his job and a public flogging on the front page of the daily post I'd imagine.

Re: Attacks on fire crews
They should take down the name and place of residence of the gimps involved and strike them off the list of people the emergency services respond to. Then when their houses go up and hopefully they do then the fire brigade refuse to help.
They should flog the bastards.

Re: Attacks on fire crews
Simple answer. A Fire Engine is a big heavy thing and when driven reasonably quickly, squashes the average cunt with ease...mow the bastards down, they wont do it again.
Similar principle as with burglars, if you don't want the repercussions, don't put yourself there in the first place.

Re: Attacks on fire crews
Fucking sick this, Firemen have big fuck off trucks with extremely powerful fucking pressurised water hoses. They should be allowed to turn it on "people" if they fuck them off like this, a jet blast from one of those fuckers will stop the little fucking tramps from doing it. Either that or a police escort.

I get that a lot, I mean in my last job as a bank clerk I let that fella in the vault wearing a stripey top and a bandana. His bag read "swag" I thought that was a company who deals with security, never knew he would run off with everything.
Ah well, at least it let me be the chief interviewer for appointing teachers in the east midlands region......
Anyway - Fresh Prince - you know, the Fresh Prince of Belle Air. Will smith. Ace TV show from my youth. Catchy tune.

Re: Attacks on fire crews
I read about fake fire engines today, they get sent out to places which are known for "ambushes" and they're just full of police instead who'll just leg it out and wreck their shit.

Re: Attacks on fire crews
I have been in the Fire Service for 12 years and used to work at St Helens and Croxteth fire stations, being assaulted was a daily occurence. I've been kicked, punched, spat at, shot at (air rifle), verbally abused, stones including bricks thrown at myself and the rest of the crew. It's been going on for years. Yes i have suffered injuries because of it. Most of the time it isn't reported because nothing is done about it. Even suffering some terrible abuse at times i can honestly say none of the lads have ever retaliated, but i wouldn't blame them if they had.
In some areas parents have actually witnessed this and laughed and encouraged their kids (some as young as 5 or 6) to do it (i am not joking). At times i will admit i have been worried for my own and the crews safety as you don't know what's going to happen. In certain areas (Huyton, Norris Green, Croxteth, Old Swan and others) they call you out just to ambush you. I have been known to leave a fire (usually bins, rubbish etc definately not serious fires) to burn as it would cause more trouble to get involved with the knobheads who have set it.
In Stockbridge Villiage they used to set car fires, as they knew only one machine would turn up, there would be hundreds of kids and they would wait until the crew were dealing with the fire, the driver would be left at the pump on his own and then they would then attempt to steal equipment e.g. Bolt croppers, torches etc basically anything they could get their hands on. This led to 2 machines turning up, 1 just for security, this takes a vital resource away from those who need it.
The lead up to bonfire night is particularly dangerous as they will try and injure you with fireworks. I could go on for ages telling you about things like, covering up holes in derelict properties with carpet so you fall through, toilet cisterns balanced above doors, string or wire at the top of stairs leading into basements. Too many to mention.
Yes it does happen in other parts of the country and some FF's have been seriously injured, it's lucky no one has been killed, but i honestly think it won't be long, sad as that may sound.
I don't know what the answer is, it's just society today and they know we have no power to do anything, they openly tell you that to your face. It's amazing in most cases, that when we are escorted by the Police how quickly they disappear.
It is now a criminal offence to assault an emergency worker, that doesn't stop them though. 633 'Reported' assaults on FF in 2004 is proof of that.

Re: Attacks on fire crews
Further to my last post. Official figures have 'Reported' attacks at about 2000 a year. 1 too many in my book.
