Hi guys,
Im a Greek fanatic Liverpool fan and a PAOK FC fan.
I am the administrator of the greek website of PAOK fans (www.fcpaok.gr - Greek only).

The reason i am writing this post is to clear a few things over the new Liverpool song "oh Campione..", an english version of the PAOK song "Oh, PAOKara".

1. PAOK song and River fans
The song was never an Argentinian song. It was created by fans of Gate4, the most historical fan club of PAOK. There are similar songs in YouTube by River fans but you will find none with the same tune.

2. PAOK or PAO?
PAOK team is different than PAO team. The second is a short name of Panathinaikos. I have seen wrongly a few links in this forum for YouTube videos supposingly showing the PAOK original song but the link was for PAO fans. PAOK has black and white, PAO has green, no mistakes no more.

3. Who is PAOK?
PAOK is the biggest club in Thessaloniki (or Salonica). Salonica is the second largest city in Greece with 2million people. The team's official site is www.paokfc.gr

PAOK stands for
PanSalonican (= from salonica)
Athletic
Omilos (= Association)
Kostantinopoliton (=refugees from Kostantinople [greek ancient name of Instambul] )
The two headed eagle as a sign of PAOK shows the connection of the team with the ancient Byzantine Empire (the first christian empire with capital Kostantinople http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine_Empire).


4. PAOK + Liverpool fans?
In a poll constracted by Gate 4 fans in 1993, 69% of PAOK fans supported liverpool.
At the same time, biggest rivals of PAOK, Olympiakos fans 82% supported Man Utd in Olympiakos Magazine publication 1991.
Since then, PAOK fans always support Liverpool, due to their hatred with Olympiakos fans that support Man Utd.

5. PAOK Fans?
In 1996 PAOK fans were awarded Most Powerfull Fans of the Year by UEFA magazine. You tube shows 2,680 videos for PAOK.
