Bolo Zenden was on the scoresheet in the second half, as the reserves comfortably saw off Blackburn by a 4-1 scoreline at the Racecourse Ground. The Dutchman produced a cool finish after collecting a wonderful crossfield ball by the outstanding Jermaine Pennant. The reds wasted numerous chances to increase the scoreline, with Fowler uncharacteristically missing the target fromn 8 yards. Pennant and Zenden were the star performers, whilst Mascherano enjoyed a lot of possession in the middle of the park and kept things ticking over nicely.
Rovers managed a consolation with their only serious attack of the half.
