Exciting youngster who joined the reds from Hull City in 2005 in a deal which saw John Welsh move in the opposite direction. Anderson had impressed then Liverpool reserve coach Paco Herrera during a trial spell earlier in the season, and upon making the permanent switch immediately began to catch the eye in reserve games.

Equally at home on the flank or as a central striker, Anderson struck his first goal for the reserves in a 1-0 win over Sunderland. He was a regular in the reserve side, but it was in the FA Youth Cup where he really rose to prominence.

He had impressed in the earlier rounds, but saved his best for the 1st leg of the final against Manchester City at Anfield. In a game televised live by Sky, Anderson turned in a superb display, rattling the crossbar with a spectacular scissor kick and being named man of the match by the Sky pundits.

Paul travelled with the first team on their pre-season training camp in 2006, and along with fellow youth cup winner Jack Hobbs he saw a fair bit of action with the seniors in pre-season.

Paul is a small lad, but he's quick and he loves a tackle. He looks to be a player with a lot of potential. His form in his second season dipped alarmingly, and he looked to be very short of confidence for several months, but as the season drew to a close he had returned to form and produced a string of excellent displays.

'Ando' spent the 2007-08 season on loan at Swansea, as Liverpool looked to see how he coped with first team football. He was a revelation, scoring goals regularly and establishing himself as a firm favourite the Welsh crowd. He returned to Melwood briefly at the start of this season, only to then be sent out on loan again, this time to Championship outfit Nottingham Forest.
