Illegal bank charges

I know this was mentioned a few weeks ago on here, but did anyone actually go through with the complaint and get any charges refunded?

I told my mate about this and his bank settled his £1300 claim for £1100 with him (he couldn't be arsed going to the small claims court, even though he knew he'd win). Mrs Paul and I got a slap up meal at Il Forno as thanks for telling him about it. Nice.

Good work mate! Ive heard a lot of stories like that.

Ive sent a letter to my bank asking for a breakdown of charges for the last 6 years, im sure they know whats coming. Nothing ventured and all that...

Mate, my search function isn't working, but put in Bank Charges and there is a thread with a load of replies with people getting money back.

Think of all the interest you could have earned on those charges. Best thing to do is manage your finances properly in the first place, then you won't have any charges.

Re: Illegal bank charges

Who are these peope with £1000 worth of bank charges !!!! f'kin hell !! I suppose we have probably got a couple of hundred at most on our joint First Direct account - usually the wife going to costco for some chicken and salmon and coming home with an array of unauthorised purchases tipping us over the limit for a day or two.

I heard that some banks are refunding and then closing your account at the same time ! or worse calling in your overdraft facility if you claim them back!

might get the account into credit before I claim our charges back.

Why don't you just get your overdraft rate increased?

My credit is non exsistant - I cant even get a credit card, which is a blessing in disguise, i did every scam in the book when i was at Uni to get my hands on more cash so my credit scoring is really bad - i probably wouldnt even get a capital one card!

Get your hands on that 0.01% interest on current account balances now available at Barclays. These rates can't last forever !
