Hard working frontman who came to people's attention with his scoring exploits in the FA Youth Cup success of 2006. Craig hit six goals in the youth cup, including an Anfield hat-trick against Carlisle, but his work rate caught the eye as much as his goals. Craig simply never stops running.

He has always scored goals at whatever level he has played, and even when he made the step up to the first team for a pre-season game at Crewe he had no trouble getting on the scoresheet. He partnered Robbie Fowler that day, and his goal came after a lovely back heel from the Anfield legend had set him up. The finish by Lindfield matched the set up play however, and he made a very positive impression that day.

Craig was called up the England u19 squad at the start of the 2006/07 season, along with team-mates Adam Hammill and Paul Anderson, and he has been a regular starter at reserve level for Gary Ablett's side. The goals didn't flow as much the following campaign, and Craig had a lean spell in the middle of the season when he often looked short of confidence. His work rate never dropped however, and when the latter stages of the youth cup came around again Craig stepped up his game and started banging in the goals again.

He scored at St James' Park against Newcastle, and then followed it up with a double strike against the Geordies in the 2nd leg. He also began to find then net for the reserves again, scoring once more against Newcastle (who he must wish he could play against every week), and he helped the youth team retain the FA Youth Cup by scoring a penalty in a shoot out victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Craig had been superb that night, and had been denied twice by the woodwork as he gave the United defence all manner of problems.

Things didn't go so well for him the following year. Jordy Brouwer was bizarrely selected ahead of him for the reserves, and Craig went out on loan to Notts County, where he scored on his debut. It went downhill from there though, as the midlands club couldn't afford his hotel bill and sent him back to Liverpool.

Another loan spell at struggling Chester followed, but they could not afford his wages and he was again sent back to Merseyside. With the reserve side enjoying a great season, Craig was confined to the bench, but he did come on and play well against Villa at Anfield in the North/South playoff game that saw the reds triumph 3-0 to become national champions.
