Ray Putterill was sent off in the first half as Liverpool u18s were held to a goalless draw by Blackburn Rovers at the Academy yesterday. The left winger was dismissed for retaliating to a bad challenge, as the recent bad blood between the two sides continued. Swedish youngster Astrit Ajderevic was given a seventy minute run out as he looks to regain full match fitness after a lack of action recently, whilst Danish keeper Martin Hansen shared the goalkeeping duties with Dave Roberts, both playing a half each.
There was better news for the u16s however, who were 5-0 up at half before running out eventual 7-0 winners. Steve Irwin was the hero, hitting four of the seven goals.
