FOR ANYONE WHO WENT ''THE STATE'' IN LIVERPOOL

A very good friend of mine is putting this night on.

DAISY Acid Revisited SCARLET FANTASTIC Live PA, Sat MARCH 24th LIVERPOOL @THE MASQUE

During the late 80s THE STATE nightclub saw the birth of the ACID HOUSE music scene in Liverpool , between 1987-1989 some of the greatest dance records ever made ripped up that dancefloor and changed many peoples lives forever ,

One of the biggest ACID HOUSE nites in the STATE was called DAISY which attracted 1500 people every monday nite , it was our very own shoom/hacienda right here in Liverpool..unfortunatly this was closed in late 1989 due to police pressure worried about the rise of dance culture in the city, this vibe was lost but never forgotten,

Therefore on SATURDAY MARCH 24th - 10pm till 3am you can all get a chance to re-live that vibe once again ,with "DAISY Revisited"

Ive put together not just the original djs who made all that happen STEVE PROCTOR , ANDY CARROLL + MIKE "micro dot" KNOWLER (as he was known back then ) but someone who i can only describe as the biggest State fan ive ever met and he's Liverpool's most unsung hero DJ mick PLUTO he just had play as i know how much the place meant to him not just musically cause its also where he met his lovley wife shaz now hows that for life changing ,

and as if thats not enough to wet your appetite ,ive pulled off what most of my mates consider to be the unthinkable by getting SCARLET FANTASTIC do a PA and perform live possibly the biggest state anthem of all time "NO MEMORY"

This will all take place in Liverpool's premier club venue THE MASQUE home to CHIBUKU + CIRCUS which has seen everyone play there from Laurent Garnier , Sasha, Carl Cox, Fat Boy Slim ,Jeff Mills to name but a few ,
On the night we will be taking over "the loft" which is a perfect setting for recreating that old skool feeling+holds around 450 people so its cosy too

TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE NEXT MONTH priced £12.00 + b/fee from 3 BEAT RECORDS and online ,webflyer and full details tba

Re: FOR ANYONE WHO WENT ''THE STATE'' IN LIVERPOOL

A few year before my time there ...started going in 1994 when lee butler & mark simon were there and the monster jams started.

Can you still get them 'monster jam' tapes ? always good to relive the good old days

Wasn't Mike Knowler a lecturer at Hugh Baird College or is my memory blitzed from those days in the early 90's ?

The State opened in 1982 with djs Frank Cookson and Steve Proctor then in 1984 Andy Carroll and Mike Knowler joined the team for the glory years untill 1989.The State then closed on Saturday 11th november 89 with Mike and Andy then moving on to the mighty Quadrant Park.

The State did reopen but it never was the same the vibe, the heart and the soul of the club had gone !

Best burgers in the history of burgers in the state. I think they were the tinned variety but mighty good after a hard nights stomping.

Re: FOR ANYONE WHO WENT ''THE STATE'' IN LIVERPOOL

There was a lad in The Shrew last night who looked like he was having an early try out of his outfit for this: curly, fanny head, dungarees and big, bright trainers. I reckon he bottled it with the white gloves, though.

Re: FOR ANYONE WHO WENT ''THE STATE'' IN LIVERPOOL

I only begin venturing in there about 94 myself. Being a Bootle head all you ever heard of was 'The Quad'.

My older mates always go on about the State circa '88.

The Monster Jam tapes were legendary. I had one put onto CD a while ago and the most noticeable thing was how shit the mxing was. Butler couldnt mix drinks going by the tape I had though I remember differently.

Re: FOR ANYONE WHO WENT ''THE STATE'' IN LIVERPOOL

I've got some old Butler and Davy T tapes and the mixing is truly shit, but at the time it was tremendous.

I'm looking forward to the 24th, my missus however is 5 years younger than me and not from Liverpool.

She's in for a shock.

Sounds like this could be the worse thing that's ever happened in the history of the human race.

Whatever Chris. I really don't give a flying fuck what you think anymore. You're a bit of a whopper; you preach tolerance when it fuckin suits.
