..no shit. The FF is good for talking about football but I often find that people have already expressed my opinion (usually much better than I can). Wheras the GF has it all. Rampaging animals, political debate and things that make me snort tea through my nose.

I was around for the war but can't actually rememeber much of it; I think I hadn't been on here long. I reckon I could have some Nam-style affliction blocking it out though.

There was a competition for which had the most posts which now clearly the FF is winning, however The GF reduced a lead of something like 3000 down to within a hundred before there was some server problems and loads of posts lost. GF regulars such as myself, John B, Aaron Miller, Cristian, Longo and Chris called war on the FF and posted consistently higher quality and more interesting threads.

The First Age of the GF came to an end just after its victory.

Boromir broke the Fellowship by departing to the East where he remains to this day imparting his wisdom to the children of the Frankish Men.

Even Pippin and Merry took separate paths. Merry remains in Hobbiton enjoying the party life whilst Pippin dwells in the big city of Buckwater following the path of fashion and fair maidens.

Legolas passed to the West, gave up his bow and practises his marksmanship with a much more modern weapon.

Aragorn moved northwards to the land of LIPA where he resists the temptations of LIPA's maidens and holds fast to his stern duty.

Gimli left the dark caverns of Daneland to dwell in Hobbiton but he wastes away on his poor diet of carrots and water.

Samwise enjoys family life in Hobbiton. His mayoral duties leave him little time for the GF. He is oft to be seen selling his tracts at the gate to Bree.

Gandalf is still here but his power wanes as his beard greys.

Frodo has pressed on largely alone with his burden of sustaining the GF.The spring in his step ever weakened by his great task.
