Most ludicrous transfer coups?

I've just managed to sign a 31-year-old Guti on a free from Real Madrid for my League One Notts County side

What other patently ridiculous signings have you people managed to pull off?

I managed to get Denilson to sign for me when I was in charge of Hull in the Championship. He was in his prime too.

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

I was quite pleased to get David Raven to sign for me at Chester when we'd finished third bottom of league two. Not exactly Guti, but I was happy and thought it was a bit of a coup, especially as he turned down better clubs to sign for me.

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

I`ve just signed Demetrio Albertini for St. Mirren, but then again he is 34 and have been out of club for a year when he signed.

Actually, this is a bit of a coup for £20,000... check out this kid's stats!

Not a real player, by the way, I'm a few seasons in and this is a new one

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

Spurs gave me 5 million to loan finnan for six months. Fc Brugge gave me ten million to loan barragan for 1 season. Easy money. Chelski offered me 57m for alonso but I turned it down and idrizaj for 21 milion

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

I got the De Boer twins to sign for Yeovil Town, since then we have made it to the prem and Ronald is now my asst manager, Frank at 38 is still playing and has been the player of the year for the last 2 seasons!!

Meanwhile I also signed the mighty Litmanen and Macca when I was in League one (macca was sh*te though) also signed Raven and he is now my club captain

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

I got Cafu, Albertini, Mostovoi, Frank De Boer and Taribo West for Rushden and Diamonds after finishing 10th in Div 2 and close to getting the sack in my first season. These guys help me gain promotion and all of them are now on my coaching staff. I feel that all five where magnificent coups IMO.

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

having a front three of Denilson, Aimar and Mellor when i was in the championship with Reading always made me chuckle, especially as i had Rooney on the bench!!

Currently running riot in league 1 with Grimsby with four ex reds, Macca, Litmanen, Hutchison and Raven.

Gotta love buying up any ex red you can when in the lower leagues!!

Re: Most ludicrous transfer coups?

In the 98 game, I swapped Oyvind Leonarsdson (sp? sure there is a h in there somewhere) for Buffon, Cannavaro AND cash. No wonder Parma ended up in financial straights.

Must be my stand out moment of playing that game.
