Liverpool reserves have beaten Sunderland 1-0 at the Racecourse Ground. New signing Paul Anderson hit the only goal of the game on the hour mark, volleying in a free kick from Darren Potter at the far post. Liverpool were much improved after the break and should have added to Anderson's solitary strike.
Potter, Calliste, Hammill and Raven all went close, whilst triallist keeper David Martin had absolutely nothing to do for the reds. There were good performances, most notably from Barragan and Anderson, whilst at the back Roque and Godwin were in total command.
