Secret Santa

Had an idea for all you music lovers out there. How about a GF Musical Secret Santa? Basically everyone does a compilation/mix CD of whatever they're into and someone co-ordinates it by taking addresses by pm and telling people where to send their mix. We either have a "request a genre" type thing for matching up CDs with recipients, or else a "keep it eclectic" rule. If we're going for "request a genre" we should keep it simple: 1) Beats 2) Guitars or 3) Eclectic.

The only prob is that it will take a bit of organising, and frankly, I can't do it. So any of you music lovers up for it (Stu, this has got your name written all over it)?

If it happens, I'm in (obviously) and will give an (eclectic) beats mix. I'd want to recieve an eclectic CD.

Sign up below, if anyone's interested in joining in, or prepared to organise it (Stu).

I'd be up for that. It would be nice to hear some new bands.

Re: Secret Santa

Firstly it sounds like a good idea if not a bit gay; like something a girl would think of to bond with other people and "be nice".

Secondly i'm a very busy man and this is combined with terrible laziness; not a winning combination. I won't be co-ordinating this project unfortunately.

If I do then a massive fuck up like the one I had at the weekend is possible due to lack of concentration on work leaving the railway in a highly dangerous state. Obviously can't tell you where this may be but believe me...be afraid!

Or something a music fascist would suggest in an attempt to build bridges with people who like something called "Frozen Chimps" (or something).

Anyway, I'm not buying this "think of the lives of the nation's rail travellers" shit. All you have to do is pm a few addresses.

Re: Secret Santa

Shut it Natton. I'm already regretting starting that betting feature; far to much effort to keep track of it.

I'm not likely to fall for that again. Putting effort in is for mugs.

Re: Secret Santa

the low fi option would be to post a list 12-15 tracks in mix order and let people download the tracks themselves.

ps:

bit of a gay thread

Re: Secret Santa

Done this before - it is ace.

Easiest way is to do a list of those who want in, then #1 sends to #2, #2 to #3, #3 to #4 etc.

I'd be up for it (in a *totally* non-gay way, obviously...).

Re: Secret Santa

I could do a cd with Norwegian bands (I would only pick from those with english lyrics obviously). I will leave A-ha and Röyksopp out of it, just to keep it a bit more exotic.

Have you got anything by Those Norwegians on Paper Recordings? One of them is in Röyksopp. Their tune Dom B. Sensi is one of the finest things ever to have entered these ears.
