I used to swear blind that George Graham used Championship Manager for scouting players.

If you look at the kids he signed at Spurs (Anthony Gardner, Matthew Etherington, Simon Davies) they were all top prospects on the game. I mean, I used to buy the exact same players!

Oh, and of course it's for nerds - that's why it's so popular

I had my suspicions about Rafa just before the transfer window closed. We were linked with Bonera and Kompany, and he tried to biuy Simao. I had all three of them in my Liverpool squad at the time.

If he'd have tried for Guarin then I'd have been convinced he was using it to scout for players.

I downloaded the demo last week, it isn't hugely different but appears a lot faster and there's a few nice additions - notably Euro Cup, Holders: Liverpool

I happen to have the whole of next week off as well. Can't wait* Assuming amazon deliver on time.

*That must ensure I qualify as a nerd? Or should that be "uber-nerd"?

I think I read a review on it a while back where they said that this version was carrer-based. You couldn't just start off with Liverpool but had to take a smaller team and work your way up.

There's also some new match day functions, giving commands to the team or a single player during a game etc. I guess it's something like "run you fucking fairy!" on which Kewell dislikes you for ever and feels he's forced out of the club.

I've never played it - simply because I'd end up getting divorced. Mrs Paul is extremely tolerant of my football obsession, but FM might just push her over the edge.

yeah I heard about that from a mate, you can choose different types of bollockings in the dressing room apparently. he managed man united, and just to see what happened he went for the hairdryer-style and slated every player at every opportunity.

all the players ended up hated him, except Rooney, he loved the gaffer and his managerial style!
