Liverpool U18s suffered their first loss of the new season this morning, going down 3-2 to last season's FA Youth Cup winners, Ipswich Town. The reds were 2-0 down at the break, after failing to sparkle in a disappointing first half in which the visitors dominated. An own goal gave the reds hope in the second half, but the visitors quickly restored their two goal cushion after a mistake by keeper Dave Roberts.
Substitute James Frayne gave his side hope with a deflected 20 yard strike which crashed in off the underside of the bar, and Ryan and Nardiello (twice) were foiled by the visiting keeper late on as Ipswich held out for the win.
