Stephen Warnock is set to sign a new contract with the reds. He has agreed a two year extension to his current deal, which was due to expire at the end of this season. The versatile 23 year old from Ormskirk has started the season in excellent form, and had discussions over a new contract today.
Initially, Liverpool had told the player that they were unsure of his future at the club, and were in no hurry to offer him a new deal. But the player's recent form, coupled with strong rumours of an international call up in the near future, has made the reds act swiftly to tie the player down to a long term deal.
Sven Goran Eriksson's assistant Tord Grip has been watching Warnock closely in recent weeks, and there is a strong possibility he will receive a call up to the squad soon.
