Jul 14 2005 - Liverpool's England u21 midfielder John Welsh has been told he can leave the club if a suitable offer comes in for him. The youngster had a meeting with Rafa Benitez to discuss the possibility of going out on loan somewhere to gain some experience of first team football, and was informed that he can leave permanently for the right price.
The reds are believed to be looking for a fee of around one million pounds for the Academy graduate, although a loan move appears more likely.
Meanwhile, Tranmere are understood to be interested in taking David Raven to Prenton Park on loan. Rovers this week sold regular right back Ryan Taylor to Wigan, and may see Wirral youngster Raven as a natural replacement. England youth star Raven began his career at Tranmere before moving to Liverpool at 14.
