Jul 1 2005 - Liverpool are competing with Inter Milan for the signature of Luis Figo, but the Real Madrid man will have to lower his wage demands significantly if the reds are to pursue his signature. Liverpool held talks with Figo's representatives this week, but the player's present salary is considerably more than the Liverpool board are prepared to pay.
It's been widely reported that Figo is available on a free, but that may not be the case as he still has a year remaining on his contract with Madrid, who may look for a small transfer fee.
Inter are believed to be offering Edgar Davids as part of an exchange deal, whilst Monaco are also said to be keen on recruiting the former European Footballer of the Year.
