Jun 28 2005 - Bruno Cheyrou was back at Melwood yesterday, as the Reds returned to pre-season training. Forgotten man Cheyrou was joined by compatriots Gregory Vignal and Patrice Luzi, as Rafa Benitez continues to be frustrated in his attempts to trim the squad. Luzi was believed to have been released from his contract at the end of last season, but the situation was not that straightforward.
The reds were happy to allow him to leave if he could find a new club. He had a trial with a club in Belgium, but was released after just one day and reported back to Liverpool yesterday.
Luzi is under contract, and is therefore entitled to stay if he chooses.
Vignal spent last year on loan at Rangers, but couldn't agree personal terms in Glasgow and will train with the reds until his agent can find him a new club.
Cheyrou is reported to be close to agreeing a move back home to France with Sochaux, but until that happens he'll train at Melwood. Bordeaux are also rumoured to be interested in the French international.
There were no new faces on the playing staff yesterday, although Jose Reina is expected to join shortly along with Bolo Zenden.
There has been an addition to the coaching staff however, as Benitez has brought in a Spanish fitness coach to work specifically with the reserve team.
