If I can answer for Dave, being an affiliate for about a year.
Dave starts off with 5% any goods you purchase. You don't lose out. If electricals, its maximum £5 (or £7, can't remember).
With more purchases (>100 etc) it can go up to 7.5%

It gets automatically added to his bank account each month if over £10.

Dave, don't purchase your own stuff through it as they take it back off again before payment. Get someone else to buy it for you.
