Re: Maureen
I don't get this anti-Mourinho thing.
I wouldn't have a problem with Mourinho taking the job at Anfield if Benitez goes. The fans not accepting him is rubbish. They'll get behind anyone that gets the job. A slick bit of PR like the yanks used when they arrived and a few well chosen words about the history/tradition,etc of the club, and he'll be getting the "benefit of the doubt" in no time.
I don't hold anything he did whilst he was at Chelsea against him. That was the culture there, and he played to it. He's not guilt of saying anything that Shankly wouldn't have said, and I'd welcome a league title and a bit of swagger back to the club. Mourinho is a players manager too. I'd bet that somewhere not too far below the surface, there'll be one or two players on the pitch tonight who really wouldn't cry themselves to sleep if Jose walked into the dressing room tomorrow morning.
All that said, I'm not for Benitez getting the boot, on the contrary - I just wouldn't be grabbing my pitchfork if Mourinho was touted as a contender in the event Rafa goes. Of course, from the yanks point of view, it would make little sense if Rafa did go to have him replaced with someone who was also shown the door for badmouthing the owner of his club, so it would seem pretty academic, but like I say, I just don't get the maureen-haters.
