I invested in one last week as I haven't had home-made chips since when I lived at my mum's (whilst my house was being built).
It makes awesome chips. I cut the potatoes as thick as possible, put them in boiling water for 5/10 mins, drain them, fry them at 160c for 10 mins and then 190c for 6 mins.
