Think its worth remembering he virtually had two careers.Firstly as a right winger in Shanks first great side where he won the 2nd division title;two league titles and an FA Cup.He also played a game in the 66 world cup in that position.He would walk into today's team in that position-or right midfield as it is now.
His second careeer as a central midfielder in Shank's second side and Bob Paisley's he won three more league titles;FA Cup;two UEFA Cups and European Cup.I agree we have had more talented central midfield players.He also got capped again in this position.
In picking the best Liverpool eleven from Shankly onwards I think he would be hard to leave out from the right midfield spot.
