It's not disastrous, by any means - and the money he's had to spend is certainly a factor where the cost of attacking players is concerned - but it is certainly questionable in a way his defensive signings generally aren't. Ferguson, whilst not immune to transfer fuck ups himself, has a very good track record for signing top quality offensive players.

That's a bit harsh, Paul. Solely comparing us to ManU, we've not been far off their spending defensively, but what's Rafa's most expensive attacking signing? Kuyt at £10m?
Saha, Ronaldo and Rooney all cost far more, so have these new kids. Add that to Giggs and Scholes, their attack but be valued 3-4 times ours.
Which is what you've been saying for the past week, but I don't think you can blame Rafa for poor attacking signings when they've all been less than £10m.
