It's not disastrous, by any means - and the money he's had to spend is certainly a factor where the cost of attacking players is concerned - but it is certainly questionable in a way his defensive signings generally aren't. Ferguson, whilst not immune to transfer fuck ups himself, has a very good track record for signing top quality offensive players.

Rafa will tell you that financial constraints for attacking players will be the reason for the above, and if he gets the funds for his main attacking targets this summer and his record is still on the 'wobbly side' then his excuses are being taken away.
