Still a better atmosphere last night than there has been at most recent league games. Could that have something to do with there being more locals at the game, or is that just stupid?

The only way to find out, imo, is to conduct semi-structured interviews with local Reds and non-local Reds, then perform a grounded-theory analysis of the narratives to identify any differences in attitudes and from there conduct a mass attitudes survey. Until that happens, which is never because it's too time consuming and costly the whole debate is moot.
