Tomkins attempts to offer a wider statistical analysis than the norm, and for this he is to be commended. Whoever mentioned the Fink Tank from the Times also has a point, but I thought the Fink Tank was to do with probability of winning games, with the occasional Prozone analysis thrown in.

Anyhow, I thought Tomkins' latest article was a decent effort at a deeper kind of statistical analysis. Not everyone's cup of tea, but at least a departure from the sameness that afflicts most fan-generated football writing.

His writing style is too flat, and this has been said over and over on here, but I found this article fairly interesting.
