I think it's better than Return of the Jedi, but that is equally flawed. It definitely beats Attack of the Clones, leaving it behind Empire, Hope and Sith. Three five star films.
I don't know. I quite like the way that the original films from the 70's had a kind of Errol Flynn-esque swashbuckling feel to them. It made it easier to look past any faults or Stormtroopers banging their heads. Return Of The Jedi can claim to be a good fun film. Those bits with the Ewoks against the Imperial troops are like a Sci Fi version of The Three Stooges. It just makes the film all the more enjoyable. I love the original three films, but the recent three just don't hit the spot for me. All three of them are badly plotted and paced in my opinion. Lucas seems to have started off with a vague idea of plot lines and a few set pieces in his head and just gone with the flow, much like the writers of Lost have.
