I'm obviously in the minority here, but I quite like that loads of girls get all excited about the world cup. It's kind of what makes part of the world cup atmosphere. All the pubs full of people all watching football. Also it means that we can have football on constantly on the TV without complaints and the girlfriend suggests spending the entire weekend out at the boozer watching games and drinking beer. For a month.

The drawbacks of annoying know-nothing England fans in the pub are minor compared to the benefits I reckon.
