The extent to which Juve fans provoked Liverpool fans will forever be open to debate - the fact that Liverpool fans charged Juve fans, causing a wall to collpase and 39 people to die, is not.

However shitty the stadium, however shitty the policing, however strong the provocation, we still owe Juve an apology that many of their fans never made it back to Italy.

The fact that UEFA and Juventus have failed to acknowledge their roles in the tragedy is no reason for us not to do so.

I personally am proud that my club is now taking a lead on this. What the club have planned for Tuesday night is the right thing to do, no question. Rifts are not healed by putting your fingers in your ears and shouting "its not our fault!" or "I'm not saying sorry til HE says sorry!" like kids in the fucking playground.

And i hope that any away fans there on Tuesday who lost friends or family 20 years ago appreciate the gesture - this, surely is the most important thing.
