Yeah, if it's the darker shade of blue you get 3g, if it's the lighter shade of blue you only get GPRS or EDGE which are slower data speeds. Also check your postcode against the HSDPA coverage as this is the even faster version of 3g (this coverage shows in purple but you have to select the HSDPA option).
Also, remember at home if you have wireless internet you can connect on your iPhone.

Unfortunatley now I'm confused. Whats the difference between 3G and wireless? Just strength of signal? All i want is to access the internet and emails. Hove seems to be ok with 02 HSDPA which is my work and there are wireless places in Brighton.
I just presumed I could access it anywhere. How little I know. . .
