Yes it is. Mind that Sweden is a very small country. Out of the -10M countries it's only Croatia that's been on a similar basis the recent 10-15 years in international football. There's a great interest in football in Sweden, but a poor domestic league. There's always gonna be some good players. 1-2 new stars each year. Elmander is one you forgot to mention who is actually a bit good.
Must of Sweden's international success is due to our standardized 4-4-2-diamond counter-attack system that we've stuck to since the early nineties. Sweden always played the same. Players like Anders Svensson may be absolute shite but they are comfortable with Sweden's system. That's also why we have so many older players in the national team; players like Allbäck, Lucic, Alexandersson and Larsson (some of them has been around since the WC 1994); they generally play better in Sweden's system than the new young starlets, like Zlatan for instance.
