Re: Where did it all go wrong?

Moores took over as chairman. He had very little experience of running a business just as football became a 'business.' He ran the club on the basis of being a fan not a businessman.

Kenny's decision to suddenly leave left the club in a vaccum which we didnt realise until later since the ship had always sailed on no matter who left or what changed. This time it was different.

Souey must sadly take his share of the blame. He shipped out too many players too quickly and brought in replacements who weren't good enough. He also tried to get us to play the Italian way ie slow build up with quick finishing in and around the box but this style didnt suit the then fledgling Premier League.

Moores continued to back Souey when it was clear he was taking us nowhere and by this time, our dominance was well and truely in the history books. Moores could have floated the club (or used other models) to inject huge amounts of cash to rebuild Anfield but in the end did minor cosmetic changes which resulted in Anfield still having one of the smallest capacities of the 'big' clubs.
