Is there logic in signing noone this summer?
I keep hearing that the American's are skint and Rafa is operating on a small budget although he has spent a lot under the Americans, and I see him going for expensive players we don't need like Gareth Barry.. but let's just say we don't have money...
Is there then logic in not buying anyone at all? We will have Agger back, Lucas and Babel will have had a year under their belts and Gerrard seems to be playing alongside Torres really well. Players like Nemeth and Plessis will also make a breakthrough next season IMO.
So rather than buy the Degan's and Milner's for the sake of buying, why not keep the squad together and just sell the deadwood we hardly use like Riise and Crouch? The team will improve just playing together more, the spirit and togetherness will improve too.
The revolving door policy means instability and yet more players adjusting. I haven't been inspired by a single link this summer, so rather than buy players no better than what we already have or buy expensive players that will get us more into debt, would it be better to hold fire (adjust expectations on Rafa at the same time) and not buy anyone until we have the money to buy really top draw?
So I ask again...
Should we only buy players who significantly improve the TEAM?
