Time To Be Honest
I`ve been getting depressed about premiership football for quite awhile now but I was`nt quite sure why. But over the past week and a bit I now know the answer.
Last weekend I went to Cardiff with some mates to watch The Millenium Magic Rugby League weekend this made me miss my only home league game of the season against Man City, but I booked the weekend around christmas time when I was really pissed off with everything that was happening inside the club so I thought fuck it and just booked the weekend.
After watching 5 games of rugby over Saturday and Sunday it was so refreshing to watch players who were totally honest on the pitch, no cheating , feigning injury , showed total respect for the referee and their opponents. The supporters all mixing together , even Wigan and St Helens , I found myself asking why soccer could`nt be like this?
Then on Friday night I watched the play-off game on Setanta between Staleybridge and Barrow and again even though the football was a million miles away from what i`m used to watching the honesty shown by the players was refreshing.
I think that the reason i`m falling out of love with premiership football is that it`s become a win at all costs game and if that means cheating then those that can do something about it just turn a blind eye. I`d just be intrested to know other views on the subject.
