At his best, I would agree, Alonso is better. But at the levels they've both been playing at for the last two seasons, they're about level. There is a distinction to be made here between talent and levels of performance. Also, I suspect (and I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong) that Carrick has actually scored and created more goals than Alonso over the last two seasons. It seems to me that Xabi has either lost his mojo or his heart isn't here any more.
