I never really understood the personal anger aimed at Kewell. Frustration, yes. If he's injured he's injured and when he's returning he's unfit, obviously.

At the time when Leeds were flying relatively high, Kewell and Viduka were exciting players to watch, Kewell in particular being a player that would make things happen from nothing and nowhere - from dribbles to absolute screamers.

It is a shame the way it's panned out, for both us and the player himself but more from the perspective of a football fan in general. Good players should be playing and, if he had a working body, he would be a fantastic player.

I can never work out how these fans get into his head and know for a fact that he only decides to declare himself fit for big games. I imagine he's been desperate to be back playing for us more than any one of us has.

Yes, with hindsight he's been a waste of money but my overriding emotion is disappointment as when we signed him I was absolutely made up but only got to see the player he could have been for us in fits and spats. There's no anger there.
