Re: Juventus preparing £15 million Alonso bid

I honestly would take 15 million without doubt for Xabi. He has been and still is a class act of a player but I just don't think we need him enough. The system we now play doesn't suit him well (not to say he can't play to a decent level in it). I reckon his stock is at an all time high right now because the Istanbul season is still fresh in memory (that season we played 4-4-2 mostly and Xabi excelled more in that system).

If he performs next season as he has this season (which wasn't bad, just not great either) I believe his valuation will fall. I think he would continue to perform this way as well, in the formation that we play and will surely continue with next season, therefore I would take the 15 million now and try and mix it up a bit with Barry in there instead, who's a bit more all action.

From speaking to mates and work colleagues, and gaging opinion on here, it seems very split doesn't it? I'm in favour of selling him, if Barry is tied up first. I also add if we were'nt to sell Alonso I wouldn't be too dissapointed either but if 15 mil comes in and we can bring Barry in for 10 mil I'd take it. Let's not forget in signing Barry we also then have more than capable cover at Left back and left midfield.
